- Suspension or Revocation of License:
I. The issuing
authority may order a license to carry a loaded pistol or revolver issued to any person
pursuant to RSA 159:6 to be suspended or revoked for just cause, provided written notice
of the suspension or revocation and the reason therefore is given to the licensee. A
licensee whose license has been suspended or revoked shall be permitted a hearing on such
suspension or revocation if a hearing is requested by the licensee to the issuing
authority within 7 days of the suspension or revocation.
II. When the licensee hereunder ceases to be a resident of the
community in which the license was issued he shall notify in writing the issuing authority
at his new place of residence that he has a current license. Such license shall
remain in effect until it expires pursuant to RSA 159:6.
- Permit to Purchase: No person shall sell, deliver, or otherwise transfer a pistol
or revolver to a person who has been convicted of a felony. Where neither party to the transaction holds a dealer's license, no person

There are no state licensing requirements in New Hampshire for the possession of any
rifle, shotgun or handgun.
It is a FELONY for any person who has been convicted of a felony to own, possess
or control any firearm in New Hampshire.
All persons applying for a License to Carry a Pistol/Revolver in the Town of Hollis
should read and thoroughly understand the following:
- A License to Carry a Pistol/Revolver does not relieve you from any criminal or civil
liability resulting from the misuse of any such weapon. Possessing and/or carrying a
firearm is an awesome responsibility because you hold in your hands the potential for
causing the death or serious injury to another human being. Therefore, all that come in
contact with any firearm should have a thorough understanding of the handling, uses,
functioning, maintenance and justification for the use of firearms.
- Generally, it has been established and upheld by the courts that a person is authorized
to use DEADLY FORCE ONLY under the circumstances that it is reasonable and necessary to
combat DEADLY FORCE, used or threatened, or if there is imminent danger of death or
serious bodily injury to you or to an innocent person unlawfully attacked. You should be
aware that, should you use a firearm improperly or illegally, you will not only be subject
to arrest and prosecution, but civil action as well, which historically results in
astronomical settlements . . . (N.H.
R.S.A. 627:4)
- Although the above summary is not meant to be considered as legal advice, nor a
restatement of actual law, it is our intention to make you, the applicant, aware of the
responsibilities and possible consequences of firearms. To determine the applicability of
these laws to specific situations which you may encounter, you are strongly urged to
consult an attorney.
