New Business
Chris pointed out the new gate that was installed by Jonathan Flynn for his Eagle Scout Project. The Trustees felt he did a great job and were very thankful. Chris also pointed out that because they had trees removed (along the west border) that the area was very overgrown. Doug Gagne, landscape guru, felt that the entire area should be leveled and seed should be planted. Chris stated that he had already met with a couple of contractors to get some pricing to level the area, clean it up and plant seed. He had not received any estimates back at this time but would keep everybody informed.
The Trustees discussed removing the trees on the east side of the cemetery (abutting Memorial Park) Chris agreed to contact Herm Stickney for a price. Doug stated that the tree stumps would have to be dug out. The Trustees informed Doug, newest member, of their plan to construct a stonewall along the east border of the Cemetery. Chris stated that they had approx $5000.00 in the budget for this project. Doug stated that it usually cost about 30-40 dollars per square feet to install a stonewall.
Nancy stated that they had most of the stones donated to them so hopefully this would decrease some of the normal cost of construction.
The Secretary stated that HDC approval would be necessary. Chris questioned if approval was already granted. The secretary agreed to research. The Trustees tabled this conversation until next month.
Old Business
Jeff explained that the four stones in need of repair in the Pine Hill Cemetery were repaired. The Trustees thanked Jeff for all of his hard work.
Jeff stated that he was still in the preliminary stages of finding a company to repair the stones at South Cemetery. He explained that 3 companies were in the running.
1. Roger, Gate City, was nervous giving Jeff a price for the job and would prefer to be paid by the hour
2. Dick Medlyn and Jeff were still trying to find a convenient time to get together to discuss the stonework that needed to be done.
3. The company that he had contacted in Maine was no longer in the running.
The Trustees felt that Jeff should contact Roger and have him repair a couple of the stones at an hourly rate to give him a feel for the work involved. The Trustees felt that after that he should be able to give them a price for the entire project. Jeff agreed to contact Roger at Gate City.
The Trustees were unsure if the North Cemetery was done being surveyed. There were discussions regarding what was supposed to be done. Chris stated that he would follow up on this matter and find out exactly what was done and what was paid for.
The secretary will ask Paul Calabria, Finance Officer, how to expend the funds that were donated to the Trustees for the North Cemetery.
