Minutes of February 19, 2004
Attendees: Kathy Albee - Chairman, Nancy Bell and Jeff Snow
Absent: Chris Buzzy and Sharon Howe
The meeting was held in the Lower Town Hall and was called to order at 7:00 pm.

Nancy moved to approve the minutes of January 15, 2004 as submitted. Kathy seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Jeff abstained
New Business
Sharon Howe was unable to attend her last meeting tonight due to personal issues. She asked the secretary to thank everyone for a great six years and wished everyone well. She agreed to continue working on the couple of tasks that she began as a trustee and will keep in touch.
The Trustees asked the secretary to write a letter to Sharon Howe thanking her for many years of devoted service as a Trustee.
The Trustees wondered who would replace Sharon in the upcoming year. Nancy thought that Helena Hayden might be a possibility and agreed to call her and find out if she was interested.
The Trustees discussed what their plan of action would be at town meeting regarding the proposed warrant article. Article #3 would ask the town to raise and appropriate $610,000(Gross Budget) for the purchase of Map 24, Lots 30&36 consisting of 5.52 & 7.38 acres. Nancy explained that the selectmen would read the Warrant Article to the voters and the Trustees would have an opportunity to explain exactly what they were asking for. The Trustees will be asking the voters to bond $610,000 to purchase land abutting the East Cemetery for future expansion. The Trustees asked the secretary to request a map of the land to display on the projector so that they may show the voters exactly where the property is located. All of the Trustees plan to attend town meeting on March 10, 2004 to speak. They also requested that the new Revenue Estimate be ready to display on the projector for town meeting.
Old Business
Debbie has not heard from Dona Lowe.
Kathy informed everyone that the Cemetery Trustees budget was in fact cut from last year. The grounds maintenance line was reduced from $18,900 to $13,900 and the Lime/Seed/Fertilizer line was reduced from $4,000 to $3,000.
Kathy had not had a chance to contact Ken at Gate City for a price to fix the gate and fence surrounding the Lawrence cemetery. Jeff agreed to contact Ken and get some pricing for the repairs.
The Trustees tabled discussion regarding the improvements to the Churchyard Cemetery until next month.
The Trustees had asked the secretary to obtain pricing of lots in surrounding areas. After looking over all of the information they decided to increase the fees. They also decided that the prices should be increased on Saturdays because the DPW is working overtime. Nancy questioned where the cemetery fee money is applied. Jeff informed her that it is applied to the general fund.
Nancy moved to increase the cemetery fees as follows:
The fees will be effective March 1, 2004. Jeff seconded and the motion carried unanimously. See Secretary’s Note.

The following day the secretary realized there were some inconsistencies in the new fee schedule. The Trustees agreed to just increase the cemetery lot prices for March 1, 2004 and discuss the increase in burial, cremation, etc. prices at their next scheduled meeting.
