February 15, 2007
Attendees: Doug Gagne – chairman, Nancy Bell, Joe Oliver and Jeff Snow
Absent: Chris Buzzy
The regular meeting was held in the Lower Town Hall and was called to order at 6:35 pm.
Minutes
Jeff moved to amend the minutes of January 18, 2007 by removing Doug’s name from the motion to adjourn and replace with Jeff’s name. Nancy seconded and the motion carried. Jeff moved to accept the minutes as amended. Seconded by Nancy and the motion carried. Doug and Joe abstained.
Old Business
Doug had concerns regarding current bid specifications. He felt the 10-12 days between mowings was too long early in the season. After reviewing the budget it was felt 16 mowings per year was the maximum number that could be afforded.
Nancy moved to amend the Bid Invitation from mowing "every 10-12 days" to "Number of mowings shall not exceed 16 unless authorized by the trustees. Cemeteries will be mowed weekly until June 30 and an average of 12-14 days thereafter, weather permitting. Seconded by Joe. The motion carried.
As there were no funds budgeted for lime or fertilizer in the 2007 budget the clerk will be instructed to remove any reference to application of lime and fertilizer from the specifications. Bids will be accepted until March 15, the next meeting date.
There was discussion of the possible contents of an informational sign at the East Cemetery. A cemetery map and where to find interment information were ideas discussed. The records currently at the library are mostly genealogical and are not a comprehensive listing of burials. Joe had concerns that even with a map posted the roadways were not all distinguishable and someone unfamiliar with the cemetery would have a difficult time locating graves. It was felt the library would be a good place for the public to find interment records, either on paper or through the internet if posting to the web is possible. Doug will contact Debbie Adams about what the print and web possibilities are.
Doug had visited the town website and did not think the rules and regulations posted there were the most recent. The clerk will be asked to ensure the latest version is posted.
Doug felt a policy regarding grave stone rubbings should be in place. Jeff had concerns that any policy should compliment current state law, which was not readily available. The topic will be discussed at the next meeting.

There was no new business.
Joe Oliver will not be seeking reelection at Town Meeting making this his last Cemetery Trustees meeting. Joe was thanked for his time and commitment over the past three years.
